Protocol infrastructure for local knowledge networks.

The settlement and routing layer that allows knowledge creators to own their content, maintain direct audience relationships, and be compensated when their knowledge is used. Without a platform intermediary.

The infrastructure does not exist yet.

Knowledge creators who do the work of producing original, accountable knowledge should capture the economic value of that work. The platform era broke that relationship. Google, Facebook, and now AI platforms captured the audience, the data, and the margin. The organizations that produced the knowledge watched their economics collapse.

The infrastructure to restore that relationship does not exist yet. Blue Lakes is building it: federated protocol infrastructure that preserves creator ownership, enables direct audience relationships, and routes economic value back to the organizations that produced the knowledge.

Entering through local media because the structural fit is clearest.

Local publishers have irreplaceable community archives, collapsing economics, and an acute AI extraction problem. A publisher with a deep archive can receive value immediately, on content already produced, without organizational transformation.

Three reasons media comes first: (1) the archive already exists, so time-to-value is fast; (2) the value proposition is economic, not organizational, so the sales conversation is straightforward; (3) the design partnership with the Salt Lake Tribune provides proof-of-concept at mid-tier publisher scale.

The protocol architecture is designed to be domain-agnostic. The media vertical is the entry point. The investor materials detail the economics and scale thesis.

Built from the inside out.
